Surfacing

The lotus flower is all the more beautiful because it blooms from the bottom of the pound, in the dark and mud, through the sludge and tangles, it finds it's way to the surface to open and shine.

A few years ago, things were dark for me. As I struggled to keep going, I promised myself that when I made it to the surface, I would get a tattoo of a lotus to remind myself of the path up to the light.

I'm not fully there, but getting really close, and the vision of my lotus tattoo is still forming. I know that it will be on the left side of my rib cage, which according to warrior wisdom, is the closes place to your heart (where you aim the arrow for a clean shot).

Beautiful portrait. Such a great way to birth a tattoo too.
